DeNita M. Nash Appreciation Day

DeNita M. Nash Day Celebration

On Sunday, September 19, 2021, the Big Miller Grove Missionary Baptist Church celebrated our very own Min. DeNita M. Nash  for her 25 years of extraordinary service to the music ministry, ministerial staff and church as a whole.

DeNita Gail Murdock is a native of Demopolis, Alabama (population 7,483 as of 2010). She is the daughter of the late Deacon Julian and Mrs. Mary Murdock.


She received her primary and high school education in the Alabama public school system in her early years. She further received her bachelor’s degree in Communications from Stillman College, a Historically Black College (HBCU) in 

Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Later, she received her master’s degree from the University of Phoenix.

DeNita moved to the State of Georgia and joined Big Miller Grove in April 1996. Bishop Miles Fowler appointed her to the position of Music Director/Coordinator in July 2001. In 2011, DeNita was ordained as a Minister of the Gospel by Bishop Fowler. From January 2016 to December 2018, DeNita served as Director of Choirs and Music Education. In 2019, she was appointed Minister of Music (MOM). She has served over 20 years in the Music Ministry while simultaneously serving as Director of General Education from 2018 to 2021.

 DeNita is the mother of SydKni (a student at North Carolina A&T), TJ, and Ashley, who all grew up right at Big Miller Grove. Brandford Jones and Cameron Fowler call her godmother. 

 DeNita was joined in holy matrimony in July 2020 to Brother Reginald “Reggie” L. Nash. To this union she acquired three daughters: Kristina (Cody), Kaitlyn, and Kayla (Jihya) and 5 grandchildren...Nadia, JaVinci, Cody, Jr., Elora, and Aviana.  They now reside in North Carolina.
